Weighing of the Heart
Andrew Bayuk

Take me down the steps
unto the place of weigh.
Hold my hand and start to pray.
As my heart is weighed against a single feather
he records my word and deed
I wonder what becomes of me?

Will my heart betray?
Will my heart be true?
Reciting all the things I've I said I never do.
When the balance comes
will the tally fall my way?
What will the neighbors say?

I have not been false against my fellow man
I've never killed, I've hardly scammed
I have not transgressed against my truest nature
or stolen grain from fertile land

Will my heart betray?
Will my heart be true?
Reciting all the things I've I said I never do.
Will the tally come to favor my rescue?
What will they think of you?

Take me down the steps
unto the place of weigh.
Hold my hand and start to pray.
As my heart is weighed against a single feather
he records my word and deed
I wonder what becomes of me?

Will my heart betray?
Will my heart be true?
Reciting all the things I've I said I never do.
When the balance comes
will the tally fall my way?
What will the neighbors say?

Justified I stand before you on this day
True of voice I come your way
Now my word and deed are proven to be true
Grant your power to renew
from just beholding you
grant your power to renew
