Naglaa Habib El Zahlawi

Born in Cairo of Egyptian nationality, I actually live in Heliopolis one of Cairo's suburbs. I have two married daughters and a grand daughter. I studied in a missionary school Notre Dame De La Delivrande and got my General Certificate of Education in 1964. The Faculty of Arts Cairo University granted French section License-és- lettres to me, in 1968. Ever since 1993 I don't spare any effort to learn the maximum possible details related to the Ancient Egyptian History and Archaeology: studies, lectures, reading related books, visit monuments… and write about that great civilization.

Arabic, English and French are the three languages I speak and write to a high level, this allowed me to join the Supreme Council of Archaeology personnel as a trilingual translator assigned in the Secretary General's office as from 1993. My responsibilities are the translation of all written material supplied to the international press as well as Excavations reports. I am also interpreter in due circumstances. I have translated many books into French, English and Arabic too numerous to list, the latest being The Role of women in the Ancient Egyptian Civilization by Dr. Abdel Halim Nur El Din and the 27th Bulletin du Comité de la Conservation de L'Art Arabe. I have been a freelance writer for many years with varied articles but mainly on archaeology and history in the three languages I master. These articles have appeared in Heliopolis Magazine, Nefertari, El Ektessady El Masry, Cairo 2000 and more recently Minerva, an international magazine based in London.

I recently prepared all the written material and worked, along with Andrew Bayuk, to set up the official web site for the Supreme Council of Antiquities at www.guardians.net/sca. I have started my working career with Egyptair as a reservations officer 1964/1966. I was the Airport Representative for Qantas Airways 1966/1972 then Representative and Manageress for Carven in Egypt's Duty Free Shops 1972/1993. I am member in the Lions Heliopolis Group, acting secretary and member of the board to the Heliopolis Cultural Association, member in El Shams Cultural commission, member in the Heliopolis Committee.

I hope that through my actual position and activity, I can serve my country and the whole humanity as much as my humble capacities allow me.
