Magdi Aboul Ela

Graduated from Cairo University, Faculty of Archaeology in 1977, Mr. Aboul Ela joined the Antiquities services as inspector in the Egyptology Department as from 1979. He worked closely with the foreign working missions acting in Egypt and gained experience in excavations, survey and research. He served in Kasr Ibrim, El Nuba as inspector with EES in 1981. In 1983, he accompanied Pennsylvania and Yale universities during their excavations in Abydos, Suhag. These excavations were led 20km north Seti I temple and south the southern tomb of Zoser over a 40km surface located on the eastern bank.

He specialized in surveys to locate agricultural areas in El Fayum where the retreated water left behind a salty land. He practiced surveys in the area to locate archaeological sites dating to prehistorical eras.

In 1997, he got a Diploma in Ancient Near East Civilizations, El Zagazig University and is actually preparing his master, the thesis being Pets in Ancient Egypt as from Old Kingdom to the Middle Kingdom.

He is actually the general Manager of the Permanent Committee for Egyptology as from July 1997. His responsibilities are concentrated in studying carefully the applications presented by the foreign working mission acting in Egypt or want to.
