Limited number of visitors for Tutankhamun’s tomb

 

Within the framework of the Ministry of Culture to preserve the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings at Luxor’s west bank, Culture Minister Farouk Hosni decided to fix the number of visitors to Tutankhamun’s tomb to be 400 person per day.

Dr. Zahi Hawass secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA ) explains that the 400 visitors will be divided into two parts; 200 during the morning visit and the second 200 will be during the afternoon.

 Within the new regulation, which will start on December, Tutankhamun’s tomb will be closed for one hour from noon to 1:00 pm.

Dr. Hawass announced that starting May 1st 2008, the tomb will be closed for restoration and preservation as it has not been previously restored since it was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922.
