Latest News on Nefertiti's Bust

The bust of Nefertiti will be the main subject of discussion in a meeting that will be held on Sunday between the Ministry of Culture and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On Sunday, Dr. Zahi Hawass, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), will meet with Ambassador Mona Seoudy, the Assistant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for cultural affairs, in order to discuss all measures to be taken to display Queen Nefertiti's bust (now exhibited in the Berlin Museum) in Egypt.

The meeting came in the framework of a previous agreement between Culture Minister Farouk Hosni and Ahmed Abul Ghelt, Minister of Foreign Affairs, seeking all diplomatic methods and approaches to display Nefertiti's bust in Egypt.

The SCA has asked the Germans last year to exhibit the bust, which was smuggled out of Egypt in 1913,  in Cairo. The famous queen was the wife of the monotheistic King Akhenaten, who ruled Egypt from 1372 to 1355 BC.
